Future PIs

One of the most meaningful outcomes of Quit4Life has been the growth of the next generation of researchers and scientific leaders.Through their work on the project, our Future PIs have gained hands-on experience in study design, data collection and analysis, implementation science, scientific writing, and research leadership. Several have used Quit4Life data to advance their own academic careers, including completing, or nearing completion of, doctoral degrees, while others have taken on increasingly independent roles within the research program.

Just as importantly, they have grown together. What began as a group of early-career investigators working across different aspects of the project has developed into a close-knit community of colleagues who learn from one another, collaborate across disciplines and countries, and support each other’s development.

Building this kind of research capacity is central to the long-term impact of Quit4Life. The studies may have a defined timeline, but the expertise, relationships, and leadership developed through the project will continue well beyond it. These Future PIs will help shape the next generation of locally led research, practice, and policy in tobacco control, HIV, cancer prevention, and implementation science.

The growth of our Future PIs is reflected in the scholarship they have led throughout the project. The publications and presentations below highlight work for which they have served as first authors, demonstrating their growing independence as researchers and their contributions to the scientific impact of Quit4Life+.
